It's such a long story, but I'm going to try to make it short and sweet so I can attempt to salvage this month for the last week.
I spent much of the month being told I might have MS or a tumor. I was in and out of medical specialists, doctors and even a hospital. I had multiple blood tests, an MRI and countless vision exams. This all stems from a corneal ulcer (infected abrasion of the eye) I developed on the 25th of August while moving and kicking up a ton of dust particles. My eye ended up bruised with pain all around my eye and stemming down my cheek. I'd get dizzy, forgetful and slept an immense amount.
Turns out, my immune system freaked out at the corneal ulcer and started attacking my eye. After seeing an ophthalmologist located inside St. Luke's hospital, he confirmed I had Autoimmune Scleritis. After being told how grave the diagnosis may be and waiting forever to even get one, here's the biggest kicker:
I take Aleve for a month and I'll be fine.
I kid you not. It's the easiest fix. I was told I might be looking at surgery, chemotherapy - heck, depending on the diagnosis, I might not have been able to wear contacts ever again! Yet here I am, after a weekend of wearing contacts and taking Aleve, and everything is perfectly fine.
The only issue is that, because the scleritis went on for so long, it has changed my vision. I now have a slight astigmatism and my vision improved by over half. Sounds like a bonus but it's really not. Now my current prescription gives me headaches and makes me dizzy - notice that these are some of the symptoms I described above? Yeah, turns out the dizziness and headaches are just because my vision changed.
I'm still waiting for my new glasses to come in. On November 6th, I go back in to confirm the scleritis has cleared. Once I get that confirmation, I'm going to reorder contacts (waiting just in case my vision does go back to normal or at least a bit of what it once was).
Because of all of this, the following events occurred:
I missed a ton of my exercise class and ended up dropping it.
I can't work on the computer because it gets fuzzy and I strain my eyes, so I've only been taking caricature gigs.
I'm struggling to work out at home because I can't see the screen. I eventually stopped.
When they were telling me MS or a tumor, I went all out on sweets, snacks and goodies. Stress man. So I gained weight instead of lost this month.
A lot of things were put on hold, like volunteering or reorganizing the storage closet.
I'm really not sure how to salvage this month, if it's even possible, but I'm sure as heck going to try.
